BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

I'm interested in seeing and discussing photos of sexed Meraukes. I only have two, so I'd love to see more. Obviously, male is the smaller, skinnier one.

For those with other species, please start threads with good, birds eye pics of those species. I'd love to see lots of pics of sexed individuals so we can get a better idea of what to look for.

Sorry, these pictures really stink. The skinks would simply not stay still. Since the body shape/proportions is what really matters here, I think they may be useful anyway. The first two are my largest meraukes - 24". The one on the top that looks merauke/indo is the female.

The next two are smaller animals. The one on the top is the male in these.

This last one is one of the meraukes that I am not sure about yet. I am leaning male at this point, but am waiting to be sure.

Jeff that last merauke is really nice! Very unique! Those photos are extremely helpful in seeing m-f differences. Based on what I'm seeing in the first few photos, I'd lean towards male on the last one too.

This is a birds eye view of Boomer and Inca that I posted in another thread. I find it funny that most of you have tubby females but mine is lean and long. Inca on the left, Boomer on the right.

Anyone interested in starting a similar thread for other species / subspecies? I'd be very interested to see more pictures, I just don't have the skinks to do this myself!

I only have Adalon (who could be mixed with IJ as well), but he dropped sperm plugs a couple weeks back which finally confirmed he's a he.

This thread also made me realize I always take pictures from the side, only rarely top down. I just love their faces so much and you can't see them from up top.

I do have a couple pictures that may be able to show the changes in form as they develop, not sure how helpful that is though. :lol:

Here are some pictures of my male merauke.
He's deformed because of his metabolic bone disease that he used to have but hopefully it doesn't make that much of a difference!

He's 19 months old and confirmed a male.

He's also got a short tail for a merauke. He's small in general for his age due to his malnutrition as a baby.

Anyway, hope this helps...
