BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

I had a member send me a sample of their skinks poop and after examining it, I have concluded that it was positive for pinworms and possibly coccidia. I personally have never seen coccidia in tiliqua nor have I heard of a confirmed case, but do know other reptilian species are susceptible to the organism (bearded dragons for example). So I am wondering, has anyone experienced Coccidia in tiliqua?

Coccidia is one of the smallest parasites. The first several photos are taken at a magnification of 400x and the last is taken at 100x magnification.

I guess I may have answered my own question. http://biology.unm.edu/biology/coccidia/sauria.html It appears they have documented coccidia in T. multis. But out of curiousity, id love to hear if anyone has personally experienced it in T. scincoides or T. gigas.

How exactly would someone "personally experience" this? I don't really have that type of relationship with my skinks.

i usually find coccidia to be a bit clearer then your example, saying that it is the right size it could be a case the oocysts in transit. did you find multiple?

Thank you! Yes I did find multiple, but multiple meaning like 3. From my experience with Coccidia in mammals, that is a very low number. We would tend to see large numbers when coccidiosis was diagnosed.

yeah three is a very low number. id repeat again but would examine the animals husbandry and diet.
