BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

I've noticed today that my BTS, Gibbs, has a colored bump on his bottom lip. Photo attached. Any idea what this could be and if it is possible an issue?

look inside the mouth for any signs of discolouration, possibly take a photo.

it could be a mouth infection that starting to show on the side.

if so, a vet visit and treatment will be needed.


i cant really see if its more brown like stuck shed, or more red like an infected wound opening up.


(but its a very cute photo in any case. looks so focused)

is there any chance you can take some clearer pics? it could be some dried dog food or somthing worse id really like to see more pics.. also how ihas he been behaving since the occurence of this bump has he shown signs of pain or agression or reluctance to feed ect..

thank you both for the responses: it is a brown color, and it seems to be a bump actually coming from his lip rather than stuck on it. his behavior hasn't been any different. i think i will schedule a vet appointment sometime soon to be sure.

Try taking a q-tip soaked in warm salt water and wiping the spot down gently for a few minutes. One of my bts recently had what I was sure was mouth rot, wiped at it with a saline-soaked q-tip and the chunk softened and lifted right off- turned out to just be some crud stuck on.
