I agree, When I bring Dundee out... it's more to let him roam free around my desk then to cuddle him.... I don't know.... He seems to have a stronger bond with the printer than with me....

It's sometimes scary (but also refreshing) how much we agree on things!

I'd say it depends on the individual skink. Zach, it seems from the vids and your tales that Slurp does enjoy interaction. Neo, however, does not. I would rather him not be stressed, to get him into "liking" handling.

Lump however, was different. When I get a northern in a few years, it may be different.

I don't see how anyone can say they're positive that they don't enjoy certain things, or simply "tolerate" certain things... :chin:

I think these animals may be a bit more responsive than you guys give them credit for.

By the way, how can you say they beneifit from being out and about but couldn't care less about being handled? Who says there's a difference?

My strong belief is that they benefit from being out of their cages and being allowed to explore, but I am positive they couldn't care less about human interaction.

Same here...I think some people like to think their reptiles enjoy being handled but I don't think they do.

Hehehe, I know we've discussed that a hundred times, and no they are not domesticated like a dog or cat. They're wild animals BUT, if a reptile *does* benefit from being out and about, I'm not sure that that differs whether it be walking in the grass, walking on your lap, walking on the floor, or doing anything else outside its regular cage. I know they don't, in a sense, "want" certain things, so when I place my hand in the baby's cage and they immediately run to it and crawl up, do they *want* to be held, or do they *want* to explore elsewhere besides in their cage? I think that they just live their life and take things as it comes, and CB bluey's curiosity often gets the best of them. When they don't feel threatened, and are used to a life in captivity, I think they are curious about everything; the sky, the grass, different foods, various sounds, and yes, you and me as well. That curiosity is satisfied which is evident in their often obvious change in behavior when interacted with, and whether that be enjoying the sun outdoors, or being petted on the head, it's stimulation and interaction that is beneficial in my book.

So funny when you stick your hand in their cage and they climb up it. Mine did that for the first time yesterday.

I don't think domesticated, but tame to human interaction, yes.
I think Jubby enjoys my company. He certainly never shys away and will sleep for ages on my lap and go to sleep when I pat him. Not having the same 'emotional' range as say a dog it's hard to tell. I mean, a dog will wag his tail if he's happy.

I like to interact with Jubby and he doesn't seem to be stressed or upset about it so I'll continue to do so.

One thing though, if I put him down on the ground and walk away, most times he will come towards me. Maybe my feet smell good or something

Oh, and they definately get to know certain people. Jubby is much more comfortable around me than other people. I can stick my hand in his tank no problem, but when I was away and my Dad did, he hissed at him.
