I find it interesting that Easterns in the US have no eye bands. In regards to the hybrid thread Zach - that would surely have to be the result of hybrids?!?!?

Go have a look at the Qld easterns.... some don't have eyebanding. I've seen a few in S.A. that do not have eyebanding as well.

Nothing to do with hybridising at all.

They start with the brown to light brown eye bands around the mid north coast of NSW and they also have the distinctive banding in that looks similar to many you see from brisbane further north,pike would have pics in his gallery of easterns from brisbane.Ive onley caught a few easterns in coastal QLD,the last was west of maryborough and was the light geyish background with light brownish eyebands that are barely distinguishable.Ide like to see what eastern blue tongues look like from morten island,fraser island and other islands off the QLD coast.Arrrr your still alive geoff,you been hiding lately!

My 3 easterns all have the black eye banding. I have 2 green phases and one I dunno what you'd call it - it has an orange belly with blue/grey and other assorted colours

My sister lives at Buderim just inland from Maroochydore. I saw a big eastern on the beach track at Cotton Tree just sitting there admiring all the girls in bikinis.

The second from the last looks a lot like the stock Ray has. In fact, a lot of those look like what Ray has.

Yeh yours from melbourne must be similar to the sydney type,pikes look good hey blotch,he has some beautiful varietys in his collection.

what absolutely gorgeous skinks i am new to bts and the more of them i see the more amazed i am at the colours and types there are.i want to learn fast and know them all and love them all and HAVE them all maybee in my dreams but have my eyes been opened to these guys.WOW
