Where do you live?
I now live near Torquay. If I see 10 wild blueys 9 will be blotchies and 1 an eastern. Infact I haven't seen a wild eastern for ages, the last one was roadkill.
Yeah, My lowland blotchies come out for a bask during winter too. Usually for a few hours and then they head off back to bed.
And you're right. They absolutely love compost heaps. If any of mine escape it is the first place I look for them.
