Lesson number 2

Postby Jenn » Thu Aug 23, 2007 8:39 pm

A few weeks ago, I gave a lesson on how to sneak off topic pictures into an on topic thread. Here is lesson number two-

First picture of the thread is of my foster kitten, Even, who jumped into the playpen and is checking Spike out. Notice there is bluey in with the hard to see kitten! On Topic Picture.
Image

Now watch the next set of pictures.

Since it was hard to see Even in that piture, I'm going to share a picture that allows you to see him better.
Image

Now since I showed one picture of my foster cats, I need to share pictures of the rest.

These next three are of Gizzy. She's about 13 weeks old. She's the smallest one I'm fostering but holds her own with the big guys!!!
Image

Image

Image

My next foster cat is Callie. She's about 5 years old. Her owners returned her to the program because they were doing construction on their house and it wasn't condusive to a cat. It turns out they had been doing construction for 3 years and she had been hiding/living in the basement all that time. Needless to say she is very skittish and not use to people. I've had her for about a month and she is making great progress. She stays out when I come around and will cuddle.
Image

Next is Tommy. He and his buddy Kent (he was feeling camera shy) were returned to the program because their owner could no longer care for them. They are both three years old and total sweethearts. Tommy is leaving his mark on one of the baby quilts I'm making for my sister to take to work. This pictures lets me show my cat and a quilt project. Two off topics in one!
Image

These next bunch of pictures are of two of my own cats.

My handsome Phoenix. I adopted him at the beginning of the summer.

Benny giving me an evil look for disturbing his nap.

Both of my boys snoozing
Image

Another important trick to finishing an off topic thread that you are trying to pretend is on topic is to throw another skink picture or two in.

A picture of Saphira and Stella that I somehow never posted. It's from the beginning of the summer. They are hanging out in my garden.
Image

And my handsome Mr. Baylee. Since he's a forum favorite, he'll help get me off the hook! He's shedding but handsome none the less!

And great ones of the Skinkies too! But Benny is the best!
(still chuckling!)
I'm so glad Chuff wakes up good natured if a little slow.

Benny scares me... Gorgeous kitties. These are great lessons. You know, if you mentioned in each of the kitty descriptions how they react to the skinks, it would be even more on-topic. Stella and Saphira are both Easterns? The white one looks like a Silver Tanny! I love the picture of Spike and the kitty, inter-species pics are a fav. The sleepy kitties are very cute, and Baylee is looking great, and very relaxed against his log. Yay for pics!

I like that shot of Saphira and Stella a lot.

I wish I could find some pictures to show you of my old cat.

Wow , you have a lot of beautiful cats. I'd like to foster animals but i'd get too attached the first day and wanna keep them all so i know i can't do the fostering thing.
Thanks for sharing the pics, they are great!

Stella is an eastern. He's just a very light colored one. He's also my oldest skink, from what we can figure at least 10 and their colors can fade with age. I would have loved to see pictures of him as a little guy to see how he started out.

It is hard when they get adopted and I do want to keep them all but I remind myself that I can only afford to take the 3 I actually own to the vet. There is no way I could afford even just the basic vet bill for 8 cats. So if I adopted them all I wouldn't be able to give them the best care. Also if I adopted them all then there would be no more room for me to foster more cats and then what would happen to all the other cats who are living on the street or in a shelter. I take care of them and love them but always know that they aren't mine to keep. I'm just a safe stop on their way to their forever home. Of course I do cry when one gets adopted!

Alley lost her meow and has been a little grumpy because of it. I told her to stop bossing the other cats around! So she hasn't really been in the mood for photos. I think she's still deciding what she thinks of all these extra cats.

High praise from the king of off topic!!!!! I figure if I begin and end with a bluey maybe they'll forget the total off topicness of the in between.

Oh, Oh, my heart jumped when I saw Benny he looks just like my old kitty Oliver, the only cat I ever lost to something besides old age, he was living with my ex for awhile while I lived in my car for six months and his jelious new girlfriend did something with him , I was never able to find out what. I miss my baby boy.

On topic, I love Saphira, I think she's so pretty. and Mr. Stella is quite the skinky stud muffin as well. Baylee on the other hand has that, "Don't look at me, I feel so ugly today." Look written all over his face.

I popped Baylee and Cordy in the outdoor pit this afternoon and made it "rain" when I watered the garden. They were both shedding but now are all sparkly and shinny. Now that they are done shedding, I'll clean their cages and take some pictures of them.

In that first picture it looks like cat versus skink, I'd have to vote for the skink in that one. Love all the kitty pictures, and I am glad that I am not the only one who doesn't make the bed. My mother always yells at me that I don't make my kids make their beds like I used to have to....why make it when you are only going to be sleeping in it again in a couple of hours. Gizzy is absolutely adorable, the first picture of her just makes you want to snuggle with her.

If I make the bed, then the cats don't have bunch up sheets and blankets to nap on! That's my excuse.

In the second photo, is that a black cat with blue eyes in the background?

I want THAT cat.
