eating left overs?

hi guys. i have been preparing food for my BTS in the mid noon lately comparedwith the first thing in the morning fiesta i used to prepare for them. Sometimes i give them the food in the afternoon and not take it out until the next morning.
I have been noticing them to consume their leftovers the next day..Is this okay for them?
Isnt it in the wild they also sometimes feed on carrion?

I wouldn't eat anything that sat out over night in those temps so I wouldn't feed it to my pet. Not sure if it would be safe for them or not.

I do the same thing with Izzy i let him eat his left overs the next day and it hasn't hurt him!I think of it as none wastful!

But you don't have a reptilian gut. they can eat that quite happily. The issue with leaving food out overnight is attracting vermin into the enclosure.

I would not leave food in the tank overnight but once in a while or if you forget about it would not matter all that much.

Okay, this may be a dumb question, but storing the extra in the fridge and using it for a few days isn't bad right?

When I make my skink food, I have little bags of frozen ingredients pre-made, into which I mix the fresh foods. These bags last me almost a week in the fridge before their either totally eaten or gone. If a skink doesn't eat a lot, and they haven't peed on their food, then I put it back into the bag. This seems to be working very well for me, but I could use a few more skinks to make this more efficient. With Trikks not eating, I don't seem to use enough of the food in the week's time. Can't wait till next baby season.

Which foods do you freeze?

I freeze the meat and any veggies/greens that only come in large quanitities. I then add fresh veggies, greens and fruits. This way I don't waste too much food, and I also still have vitamins that the freezer may damage.

Every week or so they also get a totally fresh meal for a few days, as in hasn't been frozen. Today for example I'm making a vegan meal for my BF, so any food included there that they can eat will be mixed with some catfood. Lots of fresh veggies.

My goal is that once I have more skinks, I wont have to freeze much of anything. I'm hoping that by next year's baby season I'll only have to freeze half the big portion of veggies. I can't imagine buying veggies just for 1, and as neither I nor my family cook often, I'd have to throw away over half the greens I buy.

I would say that there's no problem with them eating the rest the following day, my concern is ,how much goodness was left in it, i'm sure my Blue prefers spoilt mushy banana better than hard and just ripe.After all they are scavangers in the wild and they eat dog poo!!!!

Leave it to Leigh to come up with the "dog poo" angle. O.K. so they eat poo ... does that mean it's best practice? Not at my house. I'm sticking with freshly prepared, poo free food. Cheers

I only have two blueys so what I do is fix their veggies and fruits in my mini-chopper and keep half in the canister (in my fridge) for day two. I don't feed many frozen foods---unless I'm out of fresh fruit.
Had to laugh at the dog poop comment. Had to wrestle some out of Pele's mouth yesterday. Darned neighbors aren't picking up after their dogs.
