more info

Up close pictures would definitely help. Also, how long have you had the skink and where is it from? Do you see any small moving objects under the scales? What type of substrate are you using? Do you have other herps and are any of them experiencing the same problem? We'd love to help but we need a bit more info---especially pictures!

I have a bluey named Sammy too! She's a northern and she's 5 months old. She is a sweetie.

Can you post some pics of her scales where the crust is? I'm wondering if it's mites or maybe dried food stuck under the scale.

Talk to ya soon,

Diane

Are the scales raised? If so that is usually an indication of mites (which would explain what you are seeing under the scales). I would get something to treat mites as a precaution. Dont want it to get out of hand if it is.

I love the avatar.

It could be that the animal is a tad dry, thusly is bottom scales are rough and slightly lifted and are picking up pieces of substrate/dirt wherever he goes. Do you have a large waterbowl to help regulate humidity?
