I think I'd do almost exactly what Les has done should I leave the room for a moment and return to catch say a tanny mating with a northern, or some such thing. I don't think I would attempt to stop the mating, as I DO NOT want to injure my skinks, even if it means potential hybrids. A bit of a more extreme mating, but I'd do the same in either case.
At this point I would think of whether the female had bred within it's own group/sub species already this year. If it hadn't bred yet I would not breed it again, therefor any babies it had would be guaranteed hyrbid. If it had, then there's not much you could do. With Tanny/Northern you could likely tell if it's a hybrid right away, not so with Indo/Merauke or Kimberly/Darwin.
I would then make sure any buyers knew of the potential that their baby is a hyrbid. I would sell them as Pets, not breeders, and make sure the buyers understand what they are buying and why not to breed it.
From what I can see, Les did most if not all of this. The babies are pure northern at least, if not pure kimberly. Ssssnakeman, is Kimmy from this potential hybrid litter? And do people know if mating a Darwin with a Kimberly produces one which looks like a kimberly? If these babies grow up looking Kimberly, does that mean they're definitely kimberly, or could they still be crosses?

I believe the point here is that some people are trying to keep locality data pure. Kimberly/Darwin are not hybrids, not even intergrades. However, they are a unique looking animal from a specific region. Regardless of how they look, they are not pure Kimberley, they are Kimberly/Darwin. This is not a big deal, unless you payed for a Kimberly, not a Kimberly/Darwin.

No big deal now as i have lined myself up to purchase some pure kimberlies.
Kimmy genetic ancestry will allways be under a cloud as the father could have been anything.
It comes from an earlier, potential hybrid litter.
The breeder likes his bluies to roam free in his home and never separates the different locales. So they all live together like one big happy family.
I was told on purchase it was a pure kimberly and it quite well could be i spose. But the doubt is there.
Dosnt matter, we still love him to pieces.

Yeah, some of the old time Aussies really feel strongly about keeping the Kimberley localities pure. Nomad is right, they are not hybrids or intergrades. Pike mentioned the Kimberleys are so remote and few that crossing any of them with regular Northerns is a risk. Maybe he'll post some more information.
