CAPTIVE FARMED

Postby daftskink101 » Sun Jan 27, 2008 5:27 am

I know of a website that stocks blueys and its says some are wild caught and some are 'captive farmed'. What does this mean?

Typically what I have seen as being captive farmed would be the same as any "warehouse" operation here in the states, except they are able to keep the animals outside since the "farms" are in their natural environment or one that is, at least, compatible with leaving them in undeveloped areas usually in third world countries..."captive bred" yes, without the many problems of wild caught...I would say no, for the most part! It would normally avoid the part of catching animals in the wild, though...other then getting their breeding stock and filling in spots of animals that might pass...or expanding?

That is just what I have found when I read up about it...

Basically, it's a puppy mill. Or, uh....baby bluey mill.

So in other words, look for a different (captive bred and born) BTS if possible.

I'm not positive how I know this.
