Why thank you! I think so too :D

I do agree that banana and cat food isn't that bad, at the moment I am so concerned about the lack of calcium in her diet and worry it might cause problems in the future.
She'll be on a much more varied diet from now on, I am chopping up greens super-fine to mix in with her meat, and I also keep giant african land snails so I will be hatching out some baby snails for a good meat source, I wanted to ask though, is the occasional waxworm or three a good treat? Or is it too fatty?

Waxworms are fatty, use earth or super worms instead, if you cant wait for the African's use the garden snails,I've seen them around now the daff's are popping out.

Are normal red earthworms ok? I have some in my snail tanks (I have mini eco-system tanks that only need cleaning twice a year), my african snails are always at it so there will be a steady supply of good food, and the best thing is I can gut load it myself and I'll know they haven't got mites or anything! :D

Earthworms are a wonderful food (from what I have been told) along with snails, which are even better due to calcium in the shell...

I started a "FEEDERS" thread if you are interested...

Only a few weeks old, so no one should bark at you for asking more questions on it or making comments! ;)

By the way...I am interested in your African Snales colony and mini ecosystem...can you get pictures of that and maybe explain how you do it, where you got the snails and what they look like? Are they terrestrial snails? I think a self-sustaining environment is exactly what I am looking for...though not completely self sustaining, I know...guess I mean "minimal work" environment...i.e. snails eat, veggies, if they don't worms do, snails poo and worms eat that too...etc. :)

Maybe you can post a pic of that and descrtion in the feeder thread (or here)? I would appreciate that... :D

Sure thing! I think the system would work well with any type of snail, I know giant snails are illegal to purchase in the states but it would work with helix aspersa, your common garden snails.
Will post details in the feeder thread. :)

OMG, THAT SNAIL IS EATING THAT PERSON'S ARM!!! Ok, that was weird!  Good GOD I hope those don't get introduced here. I think Maya's head would explode if he saw that -- it'd be like me seeing a Mounds bar the size of a house!
