I am new to skinks and have been trying to research blue tongue skinks before getting one.
I have a question about their protein intake with feeding. Do you have to feed them live food(crickets, mealworms, ect.) or can you just feed them meets(chicken, beef)?
I know you can't give them raw meat, and need to cook it, but do they NEED the insects to be healthy, or will meats be fine to keep healthy?
thanks,
kevin

Welcome to BTS.net!
Good job on doing your research first!
This is definitely the site to do it on.
For meats, a BTS will be totally fine with just chicken and such. However, there are certain nutrients they will not get, such as calcium and Vitamin D3, which are in the bones and liver I believe. You can make this up with calcium rich foods (collard greens for example) or supplements. If you're okay with feeding F/T mice, that would also be a natural source of calcium and D3.
You can get tons of information on BTS from the caresheet on this site. It's the best. Good luck on your Bluey Quest!
