Tanimbar first mating test...

Postby vincenzoo » Fri Feb 01, 2008 6:14 am

Hello!
I tried to get my tanimbar BTs together, a silver and a yellow... I don't know the sex... I have put out all decoration, hiding place etc... and put the silver in the yellow's enclosure... I try to explain in correct english: No mate, no courtship, the yellow (who's more bigger than the silver), was interested by his neighbour... He approched slowly, flick with his tongue, especialy around the tail and sometimes bite the tail... But, nothing else... noone tried to catch the other, no fight, no wagging tail... Only the yellow seems to be very interested... The silver have two little bites: one on the tail, the second near the eye...
I don't think it's two males (not agressive enough)... Not a pair too... unfortunaly ... But I'll try again next week, but this time: the yellow going to the silver's enclosure... The last chance...
4 eastern, 2 tanimbar (silver and yellow), 2 indonesian, 1 Irian jaya, 1 ornate box turtle, 1 painted wood turtle, 3 albert's turtles, 1 florida softshell turtle and flower beetles.
S'cuse me if my english is not good or not understand everything!

Good luck with your experiments, hope you can at least figure out the sex of your animals! :)

Do you think it would help to let them meet outside of the enclosures? Perhaps on the carpet in a closet room, or on a rug in the bathroom? Maybe there was some stress due to being in the other's enclosure. Good luck with your next attempt.

At least it didnt end in a bad scrap, keep trying every few days as long as there's no real damage being done to each other.
