I do still think of it as a decent feed for them.

Well I read the back of the tins of fancy feast here - and it's made in the States - so Excuse me while I pull my head in.
I do still think of it as a decent feed for them.

I choose to avoid catfood all together, I prefer to use insects, rodents, snails, and earthworms for protein.
The perfect diet right there John!

Broth as the FIRST ingredient? Meat by-products, poultry by-products, gluten...artificial flavors...SALT?
Doesn't sound too decent to me! I didn't realize it was made my Frisky's....this must be their premium line
We try to minimize cat food as well -- we often use Spot's stew as a nice meaty base though. Blotch, there are all different kinds of Spot's Stew -- don't know what you saw...but it is just whole ingredients. The downsize is it's difficult to find and rather expensive. The best I've found in grocery stores is IAMS chicken entree....no by-products at all...

bluey feeding
I try to use feeders (snails, worms, roaches) when I can but I always keep canned (Wellness brand) cat food available for pet sitters, etc. The breeder I got my first bluey from actually used moistened troutchow to feed his guys (and had used catfood before going to that.) He laughed at me when I explained the diet that I intended to feed my guy. I tried to explain the calcium rich greens would prevent MBD. What do some of the more reputable zoos and reptile facilities use for feeding? I know much of this caresheet mirrors what the bluey bible recommends but I'm still curious what other folks are feeding.

Actually, the caresheet and the bible don't have much in common -- the bible speaks much about native plants and foods, but only a little about captive bred diets...
It does seem that many of the old timer owners have their own individual concoctions that they like.
I've spoken on email with a lot of aussie guys who feed things I've never even heard of...they also will swear by it. It seems pretty much everyone who feeds their own foods is set in their ways...

Fancy Feast is a Purina thing here - and Purina are apparently good quality. *shrugs*
Best food you can feed blueys is Snails, grubs, insects.

I feed my blueys either Turkey Prime Cut or Turkey Cassarole.
Here's the ingredients of the turkey prime cut fancy feast that we get in Oz
Meat and their by-products (pork and turkey), cereals and cereal by products, vitamins and minerals, flavours, colours, Taurine.
Guaranteed analysis: crude protein (min) 12.0%, crude fat (min) 2.0%, crude fibre (max) 1.5%, ASH (max) 2.7%, Taurine (min) 0.05%, Salt (sodium chloride) (max) 0.9%
salt levels are below 1%. This ingredients looks fine to me! In comparison to the one that Mum posted - I think you'll agree that the one I posted is a heap better.

Since we're on the food subject, I'll tell you what I've been doing. I've started cooking Smoot's food once or twice a month, and started freezing it. I chop it all before I freeze it, so I can just run it under warm water to thaw, dress it up with some leafy greens. I include things like green beans, blueberries, etc before I freeze, and make individual feeding packets. I rarely use cat food.
