Cuiosity, Anybody have one that will come when called? Just wondering.

I'm not sure they come to command like cats and dogs, I do know that they can have voice recognition, mine knows my voice and will come out from under the substrate for a look round, if he hears me chatting, especially if he want out or food, he'll have a nose when my daughter or mrs is around, but not to the same extent as with me.
MMMmmmmm... Something???????

My boy, Blue knows his name and will stop and look whenever it is called. He won't come when I call him, but he does know his name.
The Humane Society took Michael Vick's pit bulls, asked for public money to help them, then decided it would be best to kill them... adopt from No Kill shelters http://www.roas.petfinder.com

hehe
My guys don't seem to know their names but they recognize different people in our household. Since I am the giver of treats, they move to the glass to check me out. They don't do this with my kids and will actually move away from my youngest (who likes to "love on them.") They also recognize when I am eating something they like. My little baby will climb into my lap to share a banana with me.

That's the same concept for training dogs though. When I work with dogs that are just learning their name, I pair it with a cookie every time I call them. Thus the dog learns that their name only means "Come get your cookie." So in a sense, when you call a dog they're probably expecting food.....which I prefer since it makes them MUCH easier to train (and more likely to have a good recall). I wonder if this could be done as an experiment, but you'd have to find a bluey that is fairly motivated by something (banana, egg, whatever). If any individual has success at the task it means that the entire species is capable (if not always willing).

Yeah, when I get home I tap on the glass and say: 'WHO'S THE BEST PEACHY GIRL!" and she usually runs up....heh, the running is part of the reason I assume she thinks I'm providing some goodies. I doubt she's attracted to my woeful high pitched girlish glee charade. Enzo will run even faster when provided food, so she would be an excellent candidate for your new bluey training exercise.

And just to clarify things - if you look down on my list of skinks - you'll see I have 2 female easterns.

They definately have some ability to learn ie. the nuiances of their territories (the little hole under the fence), recognise individual people, routines (where the food is put) and when it comes.
A bit like cats though, they don't care too much for what you don't want them to do, only for what they want to do.
