Odin update

Postby Beyonder » Thu Feb 14, 2008 12:31 pm

Hi,

Havent posted here since May of last year. My Odin is a little over a year now. Next week I am getting him a much much bigger cage. Cannot wait to move him into it :)

He hasnt eaten much lately, but today he ate when I spoonfed him.
Big giant poop a few hours later too. Im so proud.

Here are some pictures I just took.

Image

Think he was annoyed when I got this close to take his picture..:

Picture under here reminds me of the Raptors in Jurassic Park :)

Oh wow! Love how light in color he is! Like the name, too! Nothing like historical names! ;) Thanks for sharing some pics, you have a great looking skink!

From what I have learned here and in other searches, I would have to say this is a big, beautiful Irian Jaya (IJ). Short, thick head, robust body, and easily visible banding are among the factors...

Thanks for your kind replies guys.

Yea I was told it was a IJ back in May.

He`s grown a alot since I got him. Captive bred from Germany.
His parents looked really nice (and big).

I love that little fella. Those sneezes are so charming, then I know he`s still alive in there :P

Hehehe, yeah...I think it is kinda cool to hear the occasional sneeze or nostril clearing...I dont' get it too often, but it is funny when it will "break the silence"...they have some pretty powerful lungs! Even my little Indo.

These lizards are really rare in Europe (I generally check for them in Denmark and Germany, dont know about the UK etc). Cannot find anyone breeding them here. Would be nice to have another one some day.
Must be incredible to live in Australia where these amazing lizards roam free (not to mention all the other interesting animals down there).

Yeah, and one of the few IJ's with clean legs! I'd love to see the parents if you still have pictures...

He's a beauty, like my Blue but a little lighter, you can get IJ's in the UK without too much searching(not sure how many breeders) you'll be doing well to find one in Auss though.
MMMmmmmm... Something???????
