My shingles like to sleep under piles of dry leaves. Since they crush the real leaves and they get all crumbled up, I've been making "fake" leaves out of crumpled up pieces of brown paper bags. They tend to get scattered around the enclosures, but if I pile them up in one corner, you can bet that's where you'll find them sleeping by late afternoon.

If they don't have "leaves", they partially bury themselves in the bedding (but don't do a very good job of hiding their entire bodies!)

They all have hide log (half-rounds), and none of them use them at all (except occasionally as exercise toys to climb over).

Mine usually sleeps under the aspen or under his log, although for the past couple of nights i'v turned on his lights and found him in the small gap between his basking rock and the side of the viv.
Supose the rock keeps its heat for longer than everything else, but it must be pretty cold by the morning..

Sammy sleeps out in the open some nights and burrows under her substrate others. It's nice to think she feels secure enough to sleep in the open though.
