this is the best idea i have ever heard, EVER! this woman in my town is trying to open a herp shop, but instead of having babies and WC and those types of animals, she will have only rescued reptile adoptions. i was so excited when she told the group i was with her idea... how awesome would that type of reptile shop be? anyways, thought i'd share.

Its neat that she is going to help reptiles in need and put them in new homes. But isnt that basically a rescue? Is she going to screen potential owners? Does she get these animals for free and then sells them for profit? Is she going to get the sick healthy to rehome?
Like i said, its great that she is helping reptiles and rehoming them, but it just sounds like
a.) she is running a rescue (nothing new or unusual)
or
b.) she is taking in animals for free and then reselliing them for profit (which is a real questionable practice IMO)

Does this person realize how many big iguanas and pythons/boas she's going to get? Few people get rid of their 5 inch leo, they all want to offload their 6 foot iguana with an attitude problem. It's a great idea, she just needs to know what she's gonna be getting and be ready. Send her some good luck from my end. Education is key!

rescuing reptiles is a big undertaking! but she does it already. last week she got over 200 herps from a store being shut down in so cal. she is fostering most of them but all the others are currently living with her in her one bedroom apartment. i think she said she had 3 sulcata (sp?) tortoises in her bathtub right now. i guess opening a store would really only be giving her a facility.
