I get pet store snails for $3-$5 each! Way too much! Backyard snails are free, or find someone with pest snails in their fish tank and pay $5 for 50 plus. I now have 180 snails for $15.

I've been collecting some snail from around the backyard and storing them in a bucket with lettuce etc trying to clense them. For some reason Bluey won't eat snails from some parts of the yard, I think that they have an objectionable taste from eating certain plants.

For some reason he spat them out but continued to eat other snails from a different source (my ones from the bucket). The previous owners at my place planted a lot of garden herbs. I don't know what some of them are, I suspect the flavour of the snails was tainted and Bluey decided there was something wrong with them.

Tainting is pretty common ie. cows eating capeweed - imparts a flavour on milk, supplementary fed cattle have different fat characteristics etc.
