Shedding Question

Postby Lizardqueen&Chuckie » Sat Mar 08, 2008 12:10 am

I couldn't find the answer to his question anywhere so here goes

How often do blueys shed? Do they shed different amount of tiems per year with different ages?
Do they shed at all when they reach a certain age?

Thanks, Sarah :D

well basically when a bluey is just born they shed more often and when they reach to the adult they slow down its all due to there feeding patterns the more they eat the more they grow, once they reach the adult stage they may hardley shed they are just about replacing old skin. :D

Babies can shed every few weeks, especially those that grow quickly (northerns). As they age it will slow down, until they're shedding maybe monthly or less. Each BTS also has it's own schedule. Lastly, during winter a BTS may brumate, and not shed at all. It could even pause halfway through a shed, brumate, then finish the shed when it wakes up.

My bluey, Sammy, shed every 2 weeks faithfully for the first few months of her life. She's 8 1/2 months old now and I'm lucky to catch her shedding once a month.

Bubba is probably about ten years old and he sheds maybe 4 or 5 times a year.

Chomper was every 2 weeks as a baby. He's roughly 8 months old now and he's at about every 3-4 weeks.
