Does the water "rule" go for all types? I would guess that IJ, Indo's and the more "tropical" species would tend to need more? Of course shinglebacks wouldn't need as much, I am mostly thinking of Indo's/IJ's vs. Northerns?

They can go months upon months without food. My baby Trikks didn't eat from Sept to March, 6 months? Water they can go at least 1.5 months.

until exactly the second before they die?

I think it would kind of depend on the condition and temperature of the animal though so it could vary quite widely.
