it does doesn't it? Seriously - compare Watson with any other bluey on this site - he has to have the biggest honker around. He should have his own page on the calendar just for the honker factor.

Maybe that could be a comp? Which bluey has the biggest honker? Watson will win hands down!

BTW - I don't mean it harshly - sure it's big but it doesn't mean he isn't an attractive bluey.

I would like to read that article. If this is true, I wonder how many generations of herps have been raised without UVB. Yes, some bearded dragon breeders only use supplemental d3.

well john, there are NUMEROUS generations of Blueys that have been raised without UVB here in Australia and have grown up quite healthy.

That study would be interesting to read.

Well, I tried some searching and found this:

http://www.anapsid.org/uvd3.html

"Susan Donoghue, a reptile vet/nutrition researcher, analyzed several reptile, dog, and general animal vitamins, and Centrum, a human multivitamin. She found all the reptile vitamins to be lacking in many minerals and trace elements."

Maybe you need several different elements to make the D3 powder work?? And Just D3 might not help?

I'm not an expert on how D3 works So i might be off somewhere in LA LA land and totally missing the point so just ignore me if I sound like an ijit ;P

it's such a debatable topic. There's no proof either way in regards to blueys - i say make your own choice. MANY MANY MANY blueys have been bred without UV lighting and also with and without D3 suppliments and have lived long healthy lives - but in saying that, MANY MANY MANY blueys have also lived long lives WITH UVB and either with or without D3 suppliments. So as I said - choice is the owners really. Until there is SOLID proof either way.
