Zach - 40g tank - still don't do gallons - but I house male lowland blotchies together with no problems. I serperated my 2 agro males and the rest as scott said seem to seek out other Blothcies for company.
Whether this is actually the case or not is another story but it certainly seems that way.

Interestingly I watched one of my alpine blotchies chase and bite a lowland blotchie in the outdoor pit last week.

This is the 1st time i've ever seen aggression displayed in blotchies outside breeding season.

Yeh I'll be interested to see how mine turn out. No offence Colin if you read this - but the alpines do seem a bit nuts :-)

it does happen geoff, lol, ive had easterns do it in the out door pit as well, well after the breeding season, they dont seem as relentless out of the breeding season, all species are capable of aggression, some species show more inclination towards it though, the only injurys my blotcheds have recieved through aggression is the biggest lowlands male lost a couple of fingers on his back foot from a really young male that was being nippy during the breeding season,i find its the young males that arent good maters that seem to show the worst aggression, also last season, the one just gone one of the youngish males appears to have lost maybe 1 cm of tail,so it can happen, lol

i have kept two together for over 20 years and they where cool with each other except once one bit the others tail end off

any blueys i have tried to introduce to them in latter years where met with violent attacks

i think there better by themselves in most cases as they seem to hang by themselves in the wild
