It's a hefty book at 1200 pages, I paid almost $200 CDN for it the year after it came out. If you have a large collection and you're serious, it's a great investment. But, it is absolutely not a replacement for a qualified reptile vet (because I know that somebody will be thinking it!). It's directed towards veterinarians, so it's not a light read to flip through, you need some prior knowledge of biology/medicine.

The first edition can be found cheaper, but it's only 600 pages, and was published 11-12 years ago... so I don't recommend it considering the advances that have been made in herp medicine.

New edition, at the publisher:

Luckily I have a qualified reptile vet about 4 miles from my house here in KC and my sister and brother-in-law are both vets so I have good resources at my disposal. Thanks again.

I had a nasty mite problem on my boas and none of the mite solutions worked. Finally a breeder told me to get a lice and bedding spray (I got the walmart brand), take the snakes out, spray the cage & everything in it, wait for it to air out and then just put them back in. I did this twice, waiting about 10 days between. I never saw another mite. Would that work the same for BTS?

Permethrin again.
