Love the Santos pictures!

Just wanted to share some observations from my somewhat limited experience with two spoiled rotten Northerns.
My male is an adventurer. He explores, consumes, or climbs anything in his way. Every day, at the same time, he waits for me to take him out. I don't think he enjoys being held but he does want out and tolerates it as a necessary means to an end. When in his tank, he wrecks everything---moves furniture, eats plastic flowers (now abandoned), and food paints the windows. He flattens himself and reacts to almost anything---and he notices everything. He cocks his head in such a cute sweet way.
My female has always been calm and neat. She potties outside and never wrecks the tank. She waits patiently for me to take her out of the caddy I use to carry her out. She gravitates to my lap when cold, hungry, or scared. She seeks me out to bask nearby. She is less inquisitive but definitely recognizes me and comes to me but hides from the kids. She is amazingly tolerant and never displays/flattens unless there is a valid reason.
Both blueys remind me of Bassett Hounds which I adore. They are more interactive than I realized herps could be. They each have their own little quirps that I enjoy. They don't have to be little Einsteins. I adore them just the way they are. :D

Yarp, Cinderella can keep her glass slipper, who needs one of those when you've got a turd slipper!

Katrina, I remembered that photo because it's staring me in the face from the collage of photos I have above my PC so I went looking for it. That was taken the second night I got him nearly two years ago now, he was just a mini turd then!

Hmmm. Maybe a reptiles ability to emote has a direct correlation to it's keeper's ability to do the same.

That may explain why the only emotion my animals ever show is PMS-like.

In my experience, IJ's seem to be the most intelligent. Both Moe and Slurp seem to have so much personality and interest in "not so animal" type things. It's hard not to get sucked into the anthropomorphism when you truly love your animal and consider it part of the family. I'm not sure why so many people think dogs can be part of the family, but lizards or reptiles can't. I've heard that quite a bit from some of the bigwigs. At any rate, Slurp has done things that make me raise my eyebrows, and he is so incredibly aware of our presence. My favorite thing that Slurp does which I've mentioned quite a bit, is going into our house by himself during the summer. Peach and Pearl also seem to be very inquisitive and full of personality.

+ 1.2 Northern (Niko, Pearl, Peach)

I'm either a laid back hippy type (Santos), a delicate genius (Jubby) or in dire need of serious psychomological assessment (Ralphie).
