one always sleeping one always awake

Postby nita » Fri May 23, 2008 5:08 am

Hi Guys,
new parent jitters again :( Bonnie is always burrowed deep in the reptile bark above the heat pad and I have noticed that her tail is not completely shedded yet, where as everything else is shinny and new. Cylde on the other hand is knocking on the door every other minute to be picked up and nestles into my chest for a sleep for hours every night when I am on the lounge or up on my neck when at the computer. It is freezing cold at the moment like 18 or 19 degrees so I just want to make sure with your giys (the experts) that this behaviour is normal  I know they each have individual personalities and I am not worried about their health, only curious that one is sort of in a hibernation mode and the other is so seemingly active????
Cheers,
Nita

Normal, they all seem to handle it differently.

hi nita, sometimes, even if kept warm they can still do what they think is natural and try hibernating, also if it feel intimidated by a cage mate it can curl up and hide to,but judging by the time of the year, sounds to me like its picked up on the outside conditions and is trying to settle into a long winters rest, how long have u had them?????

sleeping

We have had them since Feb this year. I have just figured out why one isn't sleeping and am going to post an urgent request for advice on the forum. For a tail injury inflicted upon clyde by bonnie, she is obviously not wanting to share her heat pad.

sounds more like ones aggressive, hence why ones always active, and the other sleeping, the sleeping one is probably hiding as if it wakes up and gets active, theres likely to be a confrontation between the 2 of them, young easterns can be a little aggressive at times

Yeh they can be nasty little beggers in a confined space.

It sounds like you've already given yourself the answer, if it were me I'd be seperating them into an enclosure each, they can get aggro in the breeding season, if they're at it already you could get prob's if you dont seperate them!!!
MMMmmmmm... Something???????
