Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim as an antibiotic - 0.2ml oral daily
Silver Sulfadiazine cream - applied directly to wounds twice daily
My question is along with this is there anything else I should change about the enclosure to ensure this does not happen again or to help him heal right now. Most likely after the infection is fought off one toe will need amputation.
My current care:
Mercury vapor bulb for heating, basking: 108-114 F, Warm side: 80-90 F, Cool Side: 70-80F, a ceramic heater is also hooked up to a inkbird to keep the temperature up at night
Humidity, water added to soil every few days, 25-40% humidity depending on when soil was moistened last
Water bowl is a pyrex dish changed every other day with bottled drinking water
basking spot is on top of a hide made with bricks
Hides include the brick hide, a plastic log hide, and 3 plastic vine plants
Substrate is a mix of zoomed forest floor mixed with aa small amount of sand and exo terra jungle mix, the cool side is almost entirely reptichip (last changed out 5-6 months ago, gonna change again in a few weeks)
The enclosure is made out of wood and is 4'x2'x2' and has acrylic siliconed around the bottom portion to protect the wood from moisture.
I feed him mainly different dog foods mixed with vegetables such as squash, collard greens, and green beans. I typically blend this mixture and freeze it. I will then unthaw however much will be fed that day (fed every 4 days). I also add either Repashy calcium plus or zoo med reptivite
That is the complete current care, please let me know if anything needs to change for current healing or for overall better husbandry in the future. Photos are shown below.
