Too bad you can't fly one of our Aussies with you for a purchase visit! That is way cool that you can sex shinglebacks so easily. Wish it were that easy for all kinds.
Wish someone here in America would get some shinglebacks and begin a breeding program. Heck, I'd pay money just to hold one!
Good luck! Sorry I don't have any advice. Wish there was more info to substantiate their ages and sexes though.

Those "veins" look a lot bigger and fatter than what I thought was scene when looking at the "vein" of a BTS. What about regular BTS? I remember Johan trying to use this method to sex an albino eastern..

DeadEye, I would love to come to Australia. I would even live there if I could keep my current animals. I will definately be making several trips there during my lifetime ^.^ Too bad we're not allowed to take anything skinks back. I would definately prefer CB shingles if you know of any, even if I have to ship from Germany.

Fatal,

Consider what that money could do for you (& your reptile collection) if you invested it wisely.... The income stream could provide enjoyment over many years. Just think about it for awhile.

OK. I'll get off my old fart soap box now.

Very true, it is currently collecting interest, maybe putting it away somewhere nice could be a good idea, but if I get the chance to buy a nice pair of shingles, I'll definately jump on it. It's mostly for personal happiness, but it could also be a source of a small amount of income if I can get a breeding pair.

Never buy an animal thinking it'll make you money. Don't even buy it thinking it'll pay for itself. If either of those concerns would be a deal breaker, you'd better hold onto the money and listen to the old australian fart.

I don't want to make money off any animals, the animals will be my pets. Especially since if I can get a breeding pair the babies would be sold on this forum for a low price. Once again I woded a post without looking at what I was saying -.-' Shouldn't post on cold meds. I'm going to stop posting now and come back later. ^.^

Hey, spend your money on whatever you want! As long as you go into it with your eyes open and realistic expectations, then go for it!

Does anyone know roughly how many shingles there are in the US? I'd imagine due to your country size, population and big herp industry that the numbers may (relatively) equate to those kept here.

That's just my opinion, based on no facts whatsoever, but they aren't overly common here either for reasons such as reptile keeping community is quite small here (but growing), most people are into snakes and consider lizards a 'starter' or boring reptile (in the great lizard debate, alot of people think beardies are the more interesting compared to bluetongues), and because shingles only have 1-3 babies a year compared to 10-15 for bluetongues there just aren't as many around. There's also the thing about them being prone to respiratory problems in humid areas, so some people in the eastern states are put off by that.

Some people spend money on things that boggle my mind, and others would probably say the same thing about how I spend my money. It's yours, do what you want with it!

Yep thats true as well Lisa - Just i get to see reptile auctions here my god there is some shadey nasty people there ... I could take a pic of 15 skinks now that are not really suitable to go back bush.(eg) 1 nostril gone , 6 with no tails ...The poor bloke that got his face run over and his face smashed ...There all classed derlict ...Why cant they go into a mob to be taken to the usa .- So many would suit a owner in another country . ..Most homes have 1 or a few in there gardens ..Not like there rare , quarantine these these guys ..And stop the under ground smuggling - cruelty - Like Lisa said i spoke to a guy the other week about buying a pair of buitifull shingles . Look what he said

Hi Ian,
sorry for the late reply.
you are asking for the best coloured form bobtail in Australia. I can understand your interest in them. I am probably the only reliable supplier of this form in Austarlia and I have alot of interest from eastern states collectors. I wish more W.A people could appreciate them.
If you could send me your phone number I will call you in regards to acquiring one or two.

Cheers Gazza
:noknow: Bad sytem IMO Fatal-sub ..Goodluck to you to save that cash up mate .cheers Image
