What a gorgeous Komodo (and enclosure!!) The Australia Zoo is on my "to do before I die list." Unfortunately, it is also on my "to do if I win the lotto list" as well.
They have Komodos at several of our "nearby" zoos. They even have babies at one of the zoos. The enclosures are painfully small though. Large monitor lizards like that should be entitled to more space. Seems like so many herps live in crowded zoo facilities. It is reassuring that some zoos are doing a good job in that department.
Thanks for sharing. Of course, if you would like to send tickets so that we could see them, that would be even more welcome!
I won't complain that you are off-topic or that you described them as your "fav lizards" because I am the queen of forgetting what the topic originally was!

Leigh, while that sounds awsome, I am in no way able to take on a lizard the size of an iguana. I'm 5'4, 107lb, and I have very little muscle. Me against anything bigger than maybe 3 feet probably wouldn't turn out too well. I need a mini-komodo, the size of a water dragon or skink.

They are cute. And apparently they're not into biting, I like that. Thanks for that possibility guys.

I have had the wonderful pleasure of purchasing, housing, and..sadly...shipping an Ackie off to a friend. It was a wonderful experience! They have all the attitude and actions of an Argus, act like a Komodo while hunting and wandering about, but they (many of them, esp the one I had) are SO sweet when you pick them up and let them wonder around on you...making sure you keep an eye on them, though...they are sneaky and fast when they want to be! ;) Seem to be pretty intelligent, too! Working things out in their head, always testing their surroundings and cages to see if they can escape or find something new!
