I kiss all over. On his face, on his back, I kiss his little footsies. He likes to kiss back, too  I reckon I probably just smell and taste like a big block of chocolate to him most of the time, and at nights like a rum & coke

No Tiger, I don't wash my lips afterwards, so you might wanna refrain from kissing me if we ever meet

I also kiss my dogs too, but try to keep away from their mouths because they've been known to eat poo

I kiss my dogs on the nose too!!
They love to give me kisses, and Lucky only wants to do it on the lips!! but his mouth is clean!! I don't care

My one professor, who is a vet, says to never kiss animals anytime because of diseases, parasites, etc...but I'll just take my chances!! :D

I just don't want the reptiles to get sick from me. I'll take my chances, but when it comes to their getting sick...no way. Same thing goes with my cockatiel! I never kiss her on the nostrils.

You can get some diseases from them or transfer some, but it is not very common!! same with all animals. There are not too many serious zoonotic diseases luckily

Yeah, it's just the fact that it can happen. And the bacteria in our mouths can't be good for them at all!

Haha, rum and coke....

I'd imagine any bacteria from your hands would be much more risky than anything on your lips. Not to mention the average american touches their mouth over 17 times per hour without routinely washing (scratching, itching, conversation, resting, etc), so......I don't worry about it at all. If a skink is going to be sick, I don't think it's going to be from something in my mouth. Whatever it was, it would likely be on my hands just as much. Of course, it's a good idea to wash your hands, but how many people TRULY wash up before and after religiously? And every dog owner on the planet kisses their dogs, and I'd rather kiss a lizard than a greasy dog!

I think I'll start another poll about hand washing.

i think dog's have antiseptics in their saliva so when they lick their wounds they are actually cleaning them. so in a sense dogs have cleaner mouths than we do, because, well, could you imagine how much worse our breath would smell than our dogs if we NEVER brushed our teeth.

i am the opposite of a germ phobe. i am pretty lax when it comes to that sort of thing and most of you may scoff at me. but i feel like freaking out over germs is just like "nutrasweet gives you cancer" and obstaining from that and other over the top claims. and, I never ever get sick so i'm obviously not diseased ridden.
it has been proven that a cutting board in your kitchen contains more bacteria/germs than a public toilet seat.
(some of this info probably belongs in the other thread but i probably shouldn't go over there because everyone will think i'm disgusting)

I don't think you're disgusting. I can be very lax with some things when it comes to germs. My family didn't really raise me to be very "germ-aware" so it's kind of odd for me to think about them so much with the lizards (i.e. how to disinfect the bathtub after I give them a bath to wash off poop or whatever).

I'm not a germ freak, it's just the *thought* that makes me wash my hands all the time. The public restroom door handles for example. :yikes: Doh, well I guess does that make me a germ freak?

If you want something to freak out about, you should read this book:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... 15-3675059

That freaked me out. It's all about how there are all these parasites in our bodies and brains that cause diseases and all sorts of fun stuff like that.

But if you really want to be freaked out even more, take a class on parasitology!!

You'll never want to go to the beach because hookworms live in the wet sand, you won't want to kiss your animals because they might have some kind of bug on them, you won't want to go to foreign countries and drink the water due to the fact you might get a giant worm in your legs or arms, and you will never eat spaghetti again without thinking that it looks exactly like a roundworm. :D
pretty good stuff

It'd be grosser to see it coming from your dog's butt!!
or finding tapeworm segments on your sofa from your cat..

yumm!

this thread turned from fun to not so fun quickly!

oh yeah, fyi if someone has pinworms in your house you will probably get them because they can float through the air and land on anything and everything and then get ingested and you get them....this especially is common where you find a lot of people living together because you;ll get outbreaks of them
