How many of you wash hands....

Wow. Sounds like there's different "levels" too that people can be. Definitely interesting!

Yeah, apparently I'm an "indigo child." I attempted to research it a bit more by joining a few yahoogroups, and some of these emails go into lots of details about DNA strands and levels of evolution and all this stuff that makes me feel like I needed to back to bio class.

My mom jokes that she hasn't decided whether or not she wants to be immortal

But she is definitely sleeping less, and her energy can be higher (she still goes back and forth). And seeing the amount of food that she's currently eating your first reaction would be to think she should be look and feel terrible, but she's definitely not.

We're considering adding a product to our line. Has anyone ever tried or heard of bentonite clay. Its a detox aid.

I'm a germ freak, which makes it kinda strange that I own a reptile. When I use a public bathroom, I get paper towel first. Then I wash my hands. I shut the faucet off with the paper towel, and I use it to open the door on my way out. As for hand sanitizer...in microbiology lab, we did an experiment to test how well the hand sanitizers work, and the ones we tested weren't that effective. I still use the stuff but only when soap and water isn't available. I figure it's better than nothing!

I usually don't use soap before i hold my animals just a rinse, same thing when im done holding them. I only really use soap is when im going from one animal to another.

I wash my hands before handling the kids and in between handling different reptiles I use sanitizer (unless I'm cleaning up a nasty mess I'll wash my hands instead of using sanitizer before handling the next baby) and then I wash my hands when I'm finished with them all. I carry sanitizer with me and keep some on my desk at work. I use it anytime my hands go near my face/mouth (sneeze, cough, wipe eyes, pick my nose, etc). :edward:

I also don't touch toilet handles, doors or facets in public bathrooms.

Everyone in our house washes hands after handling each animal.
We use the Wipe Out 3 for that.

When I am in a public bathroom, I flush with my foot, not my hand.

I wash my hands with soap after handling an animal and the only time I wash them before handling is if it is an amphibian.

I'm constantly washing my hands when handling creations-critters-tank acessories-clean ups...and I try to always use ivory handsoap.This is just what I use(no particular reason).I want my hands to always smell the same to our critters.I don't want them to associate my hands with food/other animals etc._Don

Id say I wash before and after about 95% of the time, ad 100% if I'm going between animals.

Mee too! If there is a handle on the door to get out of the room, I will use the papertowel used to dry my hands.. And If there is no paper towel, I will wait til someone else opens the door.. I am such a freak.

As for the reptiles hand washing question... 100% everytime after handling.. Probably 20% before handling..

I know it sounds bad, but I am a clean hand freak! I wash my hands everytime I am in the bathroom, no matter what I did in there.. Even if I was just in there to look at the plants. I can't walk by my bathroom sink without washing my hands. That, and I use that instant hand sanitizer all the time.. There is one by my computer, one in my backpack at work, one in the glovebox of my personal car, and one in the glovebox in my truck at work!

So that 20% really isnt low, because I like to think that my hands are for the most part clean, at any given moment.

I use the hand sanitizer after handling each lizard, and then wash my hands at least once or twice when I’m done working with the skinks. If anyone in the household were to get sick, and that could be blamed on the lizards, that is the end of my hobby.
