id imagine vic would have a massive head if she was a boy,boys can get chubby though,i have a couple of solid males,vics a girl from what i can see of the pic,its pretty subtle to tell with some blotches,but ive found i can pretty much guess what they are sex wise,havnt been wrong with any adults yet either,eg,the girls have bubs,and the boys fight and mate,so behaviour helps as well,has vic ever had a go at another bluey of her own will?

Richard,

One of my females used to continually attack a subordinate male. To the point where I had to remove the male from the pit as he lost a lot of condition. He would rarely bask or eat due to the harrassment.

uhh no I don't believe he/she has. However - the base of the tail is VERY squishy.

oh ok geoff,my females only bite back at harassing males,never seen a female actually just go a male,interesting,i guess it happens with other species of bluetongues so cant be ruled out,well except for one female when shes nearing having babies,she goes mental,if any lizard goes near her she goes them,and if i hop in the cage she will bolt at me from the oppasite side of the cage and full on attack my feet,and i mean constantly,i know they can do that but its the only female i have that goes that far,the others are very pleasnt in comparison,i can pick up each baby whilst there having them,tryed that with the nasty female and she wanted to bite my hand,shes normally timid but mellow any other time of the year,but if shes gravid and or about to have babies,turns into what she thinks is a komodo dragon,very amusing,definatly never wearing thongs in there,lol

I have a couple females who will attack males; especially Enzo. I guess attack isn't really the right word though; she will stalk up real slow....then BITE!

I personally don't see head size or body shape to be a reliable way of sexing - Some blueys are thin - some are fat, some have boof heads - some don't - also, as stated by you guys Aggression can't really me 100% accurate due to circumstances - even blueys in shed are more aggressive at times. I should heat vic up and feed until He/She poops and either does or doesn't show doodles!

If the temp is stable around 10 - 13 degrees C it's as good a place as any.

here is a male,note large head,thats my dominant male breeder
in the first pic is biggest lowlands female,she bigger than dominant male by a fair bit,2nd pic has same female plus a smaller female that also had bubs late,but in late april,shes still skinny so has been brought inside today with the big female to put some weight on,ill hibernate her in a month,and 3rd pic is larger alpine female,she looks boffy headed but if u saw her next to the smaller male with a really boofy head u would see the diff,remember ive had blotched bluies since i was 5,just turned 32 on monday so im pretty competent with sexing them

Thats sad about the baby, any reasons you can think of, is that the first or last of her babies? I think I can see what you mean about the heads, the males seem to have "Desperate Dan" jaw lines{meat heads}

thats with blotches,easterns seem to be similar in regards to head size,but not as consistant with blotches,as easterns have tricked me in the past,lol,where as im extremely succsessful in picking with my blotches,also im thinking it was the first baby,i had like 10 mins before i had to go to work,so only had a quick suss for other babies,then set her and a couple of low weight females up in side,as im not happy with there lack of putting on condition after having babies,so will fatten them up then cool them indoors at a later date,also come to think of it i did that with the big female last year,thought she was gravid and kept her inside with the stumpys for a while,but she never showed signs of having babies,although she did lose tail condition,she holds her weight in general when she has babies,from past experience,compared to most of the other females

so yeah she started hibernation later than the outside bluies,but she was like the first female to be mated come breeding time,and got alot of attention from the males,she finished hibernation out doors with the rest of them so she would become active when they did gradually,also i hibernate my stumpys by all lights and heating off,they r indoors year round and i generally get babies when i would for them generally,mid to late march so dont know if having the blotch in would have affected her,but worth considering

She's gravid for sure! Just off topic for 2 secs, I find that statement about blotchies having thicker tails that come to an abrupt point on the blotched section un true. looking at my blueys and yours richard plus every other blotch I've ever seen (except those that have lost tails and are regenerating) - they make that statement untrue - what do you think?
