After-feed size.....that bugger's engorged with blooooood. :dead:

There's similar pictures on the carepage both ticks engorged, and ticks not.

I'm not sure if any of you guys have experienced a tick on you, but i have. I was messing around with some cousins in amongst some lantana in QLD and I got a tick on me right at the base of my skull.

Now I would think blueys feel pain the same way we do, so just to let yall know about how it feels removing them - THEY HURT!!!

The little buggers are painful to get off, the one i had was burrowed right in so getting him out wasn't as easy as it is with some blueys.

Just a little something to think about when you are making your blueys tick free.

also i think the large ticks r the females,smaller males,so i have read anyways,can anyone varify this

I would think that the bluey's might not like it, but the advantiges are worth the pain even if they don't know it.

Yeah we get grass ticks. They're not big but they are a right pain in the bum. I have to check my dogs twice a day in summer. They seem to like Conor lots too. I think it's his hairy legs :lol:

I bought him a pair of 18c gold plated tweezers last christmas as a joke!

I don't know how harmful they are to wild animals but, it seems most blueys and other reptiles found in the wild here seem to have ticks on them. Whether they die from them or not I don't know, but they certainly seem susceptible so maybe they have a resistance??

I thought that paralysis tick was a killer, but not sure of the others, I suppose if the numbers on an individual were high enough they could get sucked dry

Yeah where I live we get lots of ticks. My dog is allowed to run in the woods all he wants soo i have to check him everyday to de tick him. if i miss one it becomes as big as a a olive... we get HUGE ones here. The only issue with ticks is a lot will cause anemia (loss of blood thing). Gums will get white ect. There is also the chance that a disease can be transmitted, they go from one animal to another. Actually lymes disease came from a tick attack on people in the town of lymes who all had the same symtoms. They found out ticks were the cause. Here the only tick that is known to cause lymes is the deer tick they are SUPER small like a pin head.
And they mostly live on... deers lol go figure.

I had lymes disease. My immune system kicked its butt when I was like 6. My sister got t too, but she needed medication to get rid of hers.
