Nail Clipping help

I've only every cut my adult's nails. Christopher is over a year and I still haven't had to cut his.

I have never trimmed baby bluey nails. They are pretty short at that time. It's when they get to be adults, that it's good to keep an eye on the claws.

Even when they are adults it really depends on the bluey for how often you need to trim. Frankie's nails curl and grow wierd very quickly so I trim her's more often then Spike's. The kei's nails are very sharp and since they seem to use them and their tails to stablize themselves more, can leave some decent gashes if not kept trimmed. My easterns nails seem to grow slowly and not be very sharp so they get trimmed the least.

Bluey scratches huuuurt! Sometimes I won't really notice that I got scratched pretty bad, then an hour later I start to feel it and notice these long red scrapes. Don't put hand sanitizer on it...ouch.

I always talk about Slurpy's toes and how the nails grow sporadically and only in the back. Everyone else has pretty regular nail growth I think...

I just got Pryce from a pet store, and his nails are very sharp, he's never had anything to wear them down on. I'm hoping climbing onto his basking rock will wear them down, if not I'll have to cut them in a few weeks.

Hehe, the sting is alcohol on an open wound! Killing germs doesn't sting.

Jenn, Renee's Nona has these strange nails that point off no matter how when or where you cut them. They are sharp.

Um what do you use to trim the nails? I have baby clippers as well as dog clippers. Which would be better? Just trying to plan the next adventure

They arn't allowed to do anything but dogs or cats at Petsmart, technically.

I just use plain human toenail clippers....when they are inactive and cold is a good time to do it.

Be careful with using regular human nail clippers. I know with cats using them can split the nails and cause problems. I don't know if it can happen with lizards nails too but I'd rather spend the 7-8 bucks on cat/bird/lizard (the type I have are all the same just different colored handles) then have something happen and have a bigger vet bill. Plus I just find it much easier to use the animal clippers.

With mine, their nails are so small and thin, it doesn't take anything to snip it off! And always, especially with beginners, it's best to just clip the tips off rather than trying to get lower to get the majority of the nail.
