When my lucky was sick they used frontline on him it was diluted and the vet had looked it up it was under the guide for blue tongues but not to be used on other types of lizards. She showed it to me in the book but lucky stayed sick the whole time i had him,(not due to the treatment that came later) the frontline did not seem to effect him physically. I am not sure how I would go on it I just use what the pet store sells for mites.

Update - only sprayed once to date, no mites visible. Bluey has shed and looking very healthy and eating like pig- albeit a little skinnier than I would like due to being stressed when he had mites. Will try bathing him and seeing if any mites come off, no obvious signs- not sure whether to wait to see if there is a re-occurance or spray again just in case. Cage is very spartan now just a shelter and a water bowl.

I haven't had any luck trying to track down the supposed non toxic mite treatments in Aus.

Scott,

I'd spray again. Infact I'd spray every week for the next six weeks.

Good Luck.
Geoff.

I agree with Geoff -- don't underestimate mites. Better to be aggressive and proactive. Spray every week (or more) for (at least) the next six weeks, like Geoff says. Hopefully, that'll get any new hatchlings as they emerge.

Thanks

Yep I gave him another bath, a spray and sprayed the enclosure again.
Left over in the water from the bath were some almost microscopic bugs probably mite instars - no adult mites. Alarmingly though after I poured the water out - they had been sitting in it for 10 min or so, they were still alive in the water at the bottom of the container.

Anyway here is a photo of bathtime for Bluey.

Will keep posted.
