Boxers are gorgeous. When I worked at Akuna (kennels) we had a gorgeous young boxer in, about a year old. His family had gone overseas, and during that time it was discovered he had a tumour in one of his front legs. The whole leg had to be removed. He recovered, and ended up being able to run and play and be just as hyper and nutty as he was pre-op. Heaps of energy.

It was funny, because when his family was coming to get him, apparently, they asked, rather hesitantly, "Will we be able to walk him, will he be able to play?" And all the staff who heard about this later cracked up laughing, because he was just one of those dogs who could have played all day and come back for more.

G'day and welcome to my Aussie slang page. Here you'll learn the meanings of some of the words and phrases you'll hear when you are over here in God's own country. Before long you'll be speaking Strine like you're a true blue dinkum Aussie.

Some Australian slang uses rhyming words to get the meaning (eg. Billy Lids - the kids (children)). It can take some getting used to but certainly adds more colour to the language.

Australians sometimes say several words as one 'waddayareckon' (what do you reckon?), owyagoin (how are you going?) etc. This can be confusing for an overseas visitor but you can soon get used to it.

I can't think of any rhyming slang for "stop those idiots buying guns" How about a simpler project "stop those idiots".

I think he cut and pasted that little bit, Nomad. Ian wouldn't have lowered his polished Aussie ways to type like that. To mention, I wouldn't want him to, either. :edward:

I should be kind of a "blue-green," I can't do what the rest of y'all can do. I must do that with my words alone.

Are you kidding? I'm still the off-topic master, however, like I've said recently, I must use my powers for GOOD rather than EVIL... You know, like collapsing pointless threads and derailing them for a quick lockdown. Or if I do do it, I have to correct myself right-quick.

Well I'm in a great mood, so I thought I'd post here. Today 2 awsome things happened to me.
First, I found out I got my air cadet course. I got the Power Pilot's Course, meaning....I will spend 7-weeks this summer flying non-stop to get my Private Pilot's License!!! I can already fly gliders, but after this course I'll be able to fly powered aircraft as well! I'm so happy. Only a few people from across Canada get to do this each year.
Second, I am now an Aunt. My brother and his wife just had there first baby. She was born 8lbs 3 ounces, and is healthy and happy. She isn't named yet, but I'm rooting for Anna-Marie! I can't wait to hold my neice!!!
So that's my great news! I just wanted to share with you all. However, as a downside to my summer plans, I will now definately have to wait till I get back to get my skinks. Still, this summer will be amazing, and I'll have new skinks to look foreward to when I get back.
