Congrats Russ!!

Not to turn this to the sad side, but man guys. Its a rotten day. My mom had to put her cat of 13 years down this morning. And I have to put my dog down probably tomorrow or the next day. My dog has aggression problems that we haven't had success treating either with training or (recently) drugs. He's just not showing improvement. I'm waiting to hear back from the vet, but I pretty much already know what she's going to say. For his safety and that of other people....I have to make a really hard decision. Here's my marshmellow boy. I'm gonna miss that bugger.

Oh no, that's so sad, MP!!!! I"m so sorry to hear that. Be glad that dogs have no sense of time -- all he'll know is that he's with his person and getting lots of ear scratches and belly rubs, you can't ask for a better way to go then that.

MP- I am not sure if you have tried looking into Cesar Milans methods of rehabilitation or not, but I feel it is worth a try. I know many consider his methods controversial (I dont) but if it is between life and death, I think it is worth a try. His books and DVDs are very informational. Have you tried a dog psychologist that uses his methods?

I am a firm believer in him and his methods and it has worked wonders for me. I "adopted" a Bouvier last year from a breeder. She was 2.5yrs old and was supposed to be a show dog, but she didnt enjoy being shown. So instead of me buying a puppy from her, she offered me Lexi. She told me that Lexi is a cat killer and that I would probably never be able to own a cat as long as I have Lexi. Well, what the breeder didnt know (if she did, she probably wouldnt let me have Lexi) is that I already had a cat that I rescued from the local shelter. There was no way that I could give up the cat.

So to make a long story short, I have now had Lexi for a year and a couple months. The cat is still alive and they LOVE each other. I simply followed Cesars methods and his philosophy on dog behavior. I think since you are going into animal behavior, you would really enjoy his book and shows.

I feel his books/DVDs are worth the money to purchase. You could also try contacting Cesar and see if he could possibly help you.

P.S. Here is Lexi and Sigmund together. The breeder was VERY shocked (and happy) when i sent these pictures to her.

Jenn- congrats on the kitty adoption..he looked exactly like my old cat Oreo, though she wasn't huggable, she liked to attack ankles as you walked by her.

Russman-congrats, i love the pic of your hands together.

MP- sorry about your dog. I would also agree that you should check out some of Cesar Milan's books or show...he is amazing and totally turns dogs (and their people) around

Reptileking- I love the pics of your bouvier...i want to get one but there are no breeders or rescue groups around here that I have found...we are getting a soft coated wheaten instead (if my hubby doesn't change his mind and get a yorkie)

Little Foot, I first fell in love with wheatens. However, I am a fan of larger dogs. I was hoping to get a fawn colored bouv, but I love Lexis silver brindle-ing in her coat. Bouvs are excellent dogs. I am so glad I got her.

If you are still interested in Bouviers, I think I remember seeing some responsible breeders in Arizona. I will post them or PM you if I find out who it was again.
