BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Ok, evidently, my host switched servers and something happened where (I'm guessing) over half of the regular visitors or more were unable to access the site completely. They aren't sure what happened, but everything seems to 100% back to normal now. The missing posts were a result of the actual server switch, and the outage had to do with the new servers "resolving".

But thanks for your patience; I don't think anyone was fuming more than I was and I'm pretty sure my host hates me now...

IS there anyway to get those posts back or are they gone for good?

Ugh, they "don't know" what happened? They're lying or they're idiots! You deserve a better answer than that. An outage like this affects your business. First of all, simple DNS issues (totally within their control, IMO) were keeping people from reaching the site. Your nameservers were failing to resolve the host for a while, then they were flat out REFUSING requests. To switch your site to another server, there should have been ample notice and a short planned outage. Seems to me like they did a backup, waited a while, copied your site to the new server, then did the cutover -- so all data between the backup and the cutover was lost. Just a guess. But that's not at all the way to do things.

I am just happy to be back, it's been a long two days without my forum fix.

Hijinks ... you sound like my hubby ... he's a IT systems Administrator. The details are beyond me but I agree sounds like someone fell short of their best effort. Thrilled to be back!!! Thanks for doggin em Zach.

I missed you guys too! Glad things are back up and running! I've been very busy the last two days, so its good to come back and find things back to "normal"....

Oh, believe me, I know....

The website is www.bluecapacity.com -- all it is is one kid renting servers in Texas and hosting a few people on them. I would switch, but moving this forum and all the mods I paid to install would be an enormous chore and pain. Last time I switched, all the mod information carried over, but each mod had to actually be reinstalled. Heh, you guys would be amazed how different this forum would be if all the add-ons I put on were gone! No quick reply, no graphics, one of my favorites is the one where if you check one or two posts then come back an hour later, it still shows which posts you've checked, and which you haven't!!! If that wasn't added on, all the posts you haven't looked at get unmarked...

Don't let it happen again.

I am just happy everything is back...though this will be the third time for me to get my 500th post...in each of the past two outages i lost about 15 posts.

Think about poor me! I'm trying to catch up to Kelly so I can be in second with the most posts and I lost a whole bunch yesterday! I only need about 6,000 more posts until I catch up!

I couldnt access the forum for nearly a week!!
It said the page couldnt be found and i thought it was deleted aswell
