BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

well its that time of year in sunny old melbourne australia,lol,the alpine blotcheds have started to mate,the southerns should begin in the next week or so as well

the poor lass had 2 boys trying at once ,only the large male was successfull though,the young fella just got dragged about,plus there were three more young males climbing over them so i had to take them all out except for the large male that knows what hes doing,they are the pr that produced last seasons little alpines

Nice job Richard, is it always the biggest gets the spoils, or do the little whipper snappers get a look in?

naah leigh,they just hang on and the female drags them around,this is there first year of showing any sexual behaviour though,the young males mostly chase and bite,they even go after the young ones in the pitt that are way to small for breeding,they were pretty aggressive so i took the 2 young ones out

Good stuff richard,they really gives the females a hard time and each other,my male with the red head got absolutely pummelled this year,wasnt a bit of him not chewed.I had to put him out of his misery,he sloughed and was really weak,if i dont have more than one male they dont breed as well,its a big cage and i thought he would escape as years past slough and be fine.A few of my females appear gravid already richard,ile trade you for something other than bluetongues LOL.

hmmm a trade sounds good,lol,id love to get some of your type alpines,there quite impressive,not sure what ill get bubs from this season,ive got gillens and ridgies incubating,and eastern waterys,waiting on storrs and gippy waterys,beardeds,lol,eastern beardys to,maybe some kimberley blueys,maybe the odd supprise,wishfull thinking but ive had supprises already this season

No problem richard,the one on the avatar looks promising this season its always out sunning and eating like a pig,didnt think it would breed this year as it bred last year but it looks good.Theres a really big pink spotted female thats really big and in slough,the males definetly mated with it allot as its got a lot of bark off it round the shoulder region.When we get half way through november i should be able to tell whats up the stik.Little monitors are OK we will work something out when some pop out hopefully.

thanks geoff,and yeah colin,sounds good,the girl im my pics had babies last season as well,i find sometimes they go 2 years then miss a year,see what happens i guess,my girls certainly got some attention this last week,so looks like ill be expecting some more alpines this season,the lowlands should produce a few litters,i have a few females that are due this season so will see how it goes,been out in the pitt digging up more water dragon eggs today,very amuzing with blotchies crawling all over and around you,lol
