My BTS Ollie has been with us now since mid August and hasn't ever had a problem finishing his dinner until recently. We feed him a small portion with a variety of foods mixed together everyday. He'll eat maybe half of it, if we hand feed it to him, and then refuse the rest.
When we brought him home, his estimated age was just under a year. We adopted him from a pet store because he has MBD. He was placed on medication and has "recovered." His bones are nice and hard now and he doesn't seem to notice he has a spine problem. He measures 15 inches from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail. I have noticed that most people feed their adult skinks every other day. Is my Ollie ready to skip a meal now and then or could something else be wrong? I don't want to deprive him of any food until I am sure that it's time.

i would have to say that all BTS have their moods when it comes to eating, i probably own the pickiest eater here! hehe
give it a try to skip a meal for two days, i bet youre not depriving him on anything.
as everyone would say here, they even can go for weeks without food.

Could be several things. The first that comes to mind is Brumation. Think of it as a hibernation for reptiles. This time of year, blueys tend to slow down.
It could be health related, but not one person on this forum will be able to tell you that. To rule it out, you would need to take the skink to an experienced herp vet and have the necessary exam and tests preformed.
Do you feed the same thing over and over again? Could he possibly be just getting "bored" with the food? maybe try different things to get his appetite going.
But like I said, I would almost put money on it that it is due to brumation.

We have been feeding him a lot of the same things. It was mostly collard and mustard greens with some cat food and a little mango every few days. We recently mixed it up by adding some butternut squash and turnip greens, but he ate that mixture for well over a week before his mood set in.

The care sheet is full of info on brumation, but basically as the weather starts to cool they tend to stay burrowed more, sleep more, come out less, and have less to no appetite.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, LittleFoot has gone over a week with not wanting to eat, even though he was offered food every other day, then one day he cleaned his plate and was fine again.
I have a feeling LittleFoot won't be brunating...it is two weeks before Thanksgiving and we are still hitting 90 degrees in the day-time....he has been fun cruising in the back yard during the afternoon.
