My Bluey always buries himself....

Postby MissyC » Sat Dec 01, 2007 1:33 pm

I am concerned that my bluey always buries himself. He is not interested in staying above ground. I got him a few months ago, and he never stays above ground! He is also not eating very much. He otherwise seems healthy. I am lost as to what is wrong. Any ideas out there? Any help would be greatly appreciated as the pet store I got him from has no ideas to help.

This time of year most BTS slow down for the winter. It is called brumation, and is completely normal :)

:welcome: to the forum. Sounds like the long winter's nap to me. Nothing to worry about. Like Jelot said review the care sheet and you could search for some threads about brunation. We've had some good ones lately. And remember we need some pictures of your bluey!

My new recruit (a "gift" from a friend) Fenix, has been spending a lot of his (I think) time underground, only coming out about 3 hours a day from what I notice...I am hoping/thinking it is brumation as well...it seems that is the overall concensus as well.

Actually, I'd say 3 hours a day is more normal behavior than brumation. Brumating at my place is being seen once a week. Generally BTS, especially a new one, will spend as little time unburrowed as possible. At my place Pryce comes out for 4 hours MAX, Wocket for 1-2, and Trikks only once every 5 days.
