My skink does this full body shudder thing from time to time. It's like a sneeze without the noise...or like a hiccup... Here is a video:

Anybody know what it is? I am not worried that it's abnormal, just curious about it.
BONUS yawn video!

Bluetongues often sneeze,it's generally nothing to worry about unless accompanied by a runny nose.mine used to sneeze but hasnt for a while.
I keep him on newspaper substraight, because the other stuff can get a bit dusty and this may irritate the nasal passages a bit.
Your skink looks very happy and healthy..

Hijinks I have seen Tattoo do that hiccup body shudder once since I got him. Have no idea what it is ... seems like a giant twitch that effects the whole skink. Sure is weird.

Love the yawn video. I had Tattoo in my chest one night watching the tube and when I looked down he was doing that right in my face. Startled the crap out of me.

He however was not bothered in the least.

Drew - It was when the skink twitched like it was about to display but didn't. Nothing major in my eyes. Humans twitch, Dogs twitch, Blueys Twitch.

Nice looking skink. That twitch is pretty odd. My leopard geckos do that sometimes, it's almost like they all of a sudden realize I'm there. Another thing I've always wondered, but never been able to find out, is if maybe they are hearing something that startles them? You know, sort of like how a dog can hear pitches humans can't. Something like that anyway.

I loved both videos....you talk to them exactly like we do...I don't feel quite as embarrassed now.

Hijinks, mine gets that "aftershock" thing from time to time,I assumed he was reacting to not wanting to be touched again,or a bit of substrate stuck in him,I use chipped wood ,yours looks soft, maybe the plant touched somewhere he wasnt expecting
