Here are some pics of a few of the reptiles that share the
environment with our local easterns and blotchies here on the
Mornington peninsula in Victoria.
They dont really compete with each other
for food but bluetongues will often make a meal out of a baby tiger snake or copperhead.
Also im sure many young blueis have been
snapped up by hungry snakes.
Anyway these are the animals i have removed from peoples properties and relocated to safer areas.
Tigersnakes (
notechis scutatus)

Pretty snake, stupid cans. Were the snakes hurt? Good job with the rescues!

Ah common names. I was expecting an Agkistrodon contortrix.
Those are US copperheads.

Okay, so I wasn't crazy! I was looking up copperheads because that one didn't look like what I remember... US ones are dangerous, correct? How about the Aus ones?

Well, they are venomous (the US ones), but they are not normally lethal. Some people might not even need to go to the hospital. However, if it envenomates you, you are gonna be hurting. They are vipers, Viperidae, and are in the same genus, Agkistrodon, as the cottonmouth, which is highly venomous, and deadly.
Aus ones are elapids if I remember correctly, and I would never want to be bitten by any elapid.
