Postby ssssnakeman » Fri Dec 28, 2007 3:13 pm

I took some pics of my stumpies earlier this year and I thought Id share them..why not?
These c/b animals parents originated, i think, from the Mildura area, in northern victoria.
They are eating homemade dogfood which is mince bockchoy pasta ect.

which is better than the reptile brand canned snails and cheaper to,
Great for pink tongues aswell.

Awww! They're beautiful!

I'll have to try the escargot with mine. I have discovered that they love scrambled eggs, too.

Talking about scrambled eggs,i sometimes make a lizard quiche, with celery, bok choy, mushroom and whatever else yo can think of to put in it.
Fruit and vegis in a quiche is great tucker for all sorts of animals and you can make it real quick in a microwave oven...Use your imagination cos there are no limits.
Dont ever use avacado of coarse and only limited banana.

Those first two babies are just precious -- what adorable eyes on them. How do you make skinky quiche in a microwave? Sounds right up my alley!!!!

Skinky Quiche...
Glass bowl, put some eggs in it.
stir with a fork, just enough to break the yolks and then some.
Throw in assorted vegis or fruits in bite size pieces,
I use bok choy or celery, carrot, mushroom.
I also like to put HEAPS of stuff in so its more vegies than egg.
Nuwk it for 3 min on med in the microwave, keeping an eye on it as well, then cool it and thats it.
Its not pretty but they still love it,and a hint of tomato sauce is always appreciated to.

Shinglebacks snarfing eggs

Postby Celeste » Sat Jan 05, 2008 1:21 pm

I tried the escargot this morning, and the two young brown shinglebacks (who are not brumating) snarfed them up! I didn't get pictures, because I was on the way out the door to get my son to swim lessons. But when I got back home, I gave them some scrambled eggs, and *did* get pictures this time.

Here's the female chowing down:
Image

And here is the male:
Image
(The perspective in this picture makes him look especially fat, but he *is* on the porky side -- he was like that when I got him!)

Anyone know how to get them to eat their greens??? They love their meat (cat food, superworms, crickets, defrosted pinkies, eggs, escargot), but like picky children will eat all around their veggies...

I let my boy get hungry, then I feed him greens first, then the good stuff like chicken or eggs last. Like a two or three course dinner! Or I'll smear chicken flavor/juice all over the veggies so he smells it, eats it, then he gets to eat the meat portion as the treat.
Celeste, I love your shingles, they are sooooooooo CUTE! :cloud9:

The quiche is one way to your guys to eat green.

With my human young i disguise the vegis mushrooms (healthy stuff) in a quiche or spaghetti sauce.

Sailleskinklovers idea is great to...let him get hungry and make the vegis tasty with chicken juice..mm mmmm
