Bleeding is a big problem. You need a vet visit ASAP! Pictures can help experienced forumers diagnose the problem, but you need a vet right away. Don't do anything to make it bleed more, as an infection could set in.

Clean the tank out well, disinfect it, and put in paper towel substrate to help prevent debris from getting in the wounds. Tell your parents to make a vet appointment first thing tomorrow. Hopefully clinics will be open to take your call seeing as it will be New Year's Day. :|

For a case where there is bleeding anytime you touch it, I'd even go to a non-herp vet, because at least there's a chance they could help your lizard until it can see a herp vet.

Yikes....yeah, anything that's bleeding needs immediate attention...get him to a reptile vet.

Pictures help substantially when posting on a forum.

In my opinion, they don't hurt, but will just make the area gooey which likely will collect substrate. I would keep the area as dry as possible, keep his heat up (100 degree basking side during the day), and just take him to the vet asap. Hard to say if it's an infection, or just a cut...or something really serious without a picture.

Good luck!

Mass lumps of scales that bleed when touched? I have no idea what that could be. It sounds like an infection.

Hello Fellow Vermonter,

This site represents the limited list of Herp Vets in our small State:
http://www.herpvetconnection.com/vermont.shtml

I have been to Shelburne Vet Clinic. Seems like Steve would have emergency coverage on holidays. Good luck and please keep us posted.
