Building your own is probably the cheapest route overall. Here are some photos of member's cages http://bluetongueskinks.net/forum/album_cat.php?cat_id=4, most are hand constructed. If you find one you like, you could PM that person, and I'm sure they'd give you instructions. We're nice like that.

These are worth the investment (and $180+shipping for the 65 gal isn't much for something that can be used for the lifetime of your skink).

Also check Craigslist for local people getting rid of tanks. Also check aquarium/pet stores that may have leaky aquariums they can no longer use.

Check places like Craigslist as well as Kijiji.com (I think that Kijiji is available for all major north american cities - its the Ebay version on Craigslist).

I have been watching Kijiji for a while now, and I think I just found Kira a 108 gallon tank for $100!!!! If you don't need the tank immediately and check those sites often, you'll probably find a good deal, otherwise building one yourself is likely the best way to go. Good luck!!

Try building your own. Even if you suck at things like that, start out really easy, don't worry about doing anything fancy, you can do that next year ^.^ But otherwise, check craigslist and kijiji, maybe you'll get lucky.

I built a 4x2 foot cage for 100 bucks using supplies from home depot. Thats the same price as a new 40g breeder.

No offense, but if you're 13 with no money and your parents aren't willing to fund basic supplies, it might not be the best time to buy a pet with such special requirements as a reptile! Expensive emergencies do happen.

You're not gonna go get a steak at Peter Luger when your budget only allows for Outback.

Also, go around to local aquarium stores -- that's where I bought my tank. They often have tanks that are leaky or cracked that they will give away or sell cheap since reptile tanks don't need to hold water.

thanks, i will check out pet stores.

well, i am doing yardwork almost every weekend, so i usually have some money to spare (roughly 50 dollars) but i just used all my money on christmas presents so i need to gather up my supply gain.

anyways, my parents would have no problem pitching in for a sick animal if something were to come up, so i'm not too worried about it.
