Is this good substrate for my blue tongue skink? I know you cant use pine/cedar shavings, but it didnt say what this stuff was. It just says its recycled wood

When I think of recycled wood I think of anything they can find to put in it. Looks to "splintery" for my liking.

I agree. This could easily have pine and cedar, those are common woods. It's also 'splintery' as Brad said. You want something more flakey, so the BTS won't stab themselves. Would you want to burrow through that?

Most pet stores will carry aspen shavings. That's a good substrate. I don't know anything about Coco fiber, sorry.

With pine trees on the front, I'd question what it's made out of. I would just stick with aspen or if you can't find that, Care Fresh.

Didn't know they sold aspen in other than pet stores. If you buy it make sure to get the shaved stuff ... not the stuff that looks like splinters. Try the coco while you look for something else. You might like it. Many people try lots of different stuff till they settle on one favorite.

Nothing that hasn't already been said, but, yeah, don't use that crap pictured above.

A lot of mulches have insecticides, herbicides and anti-mold treatments, anyway.
