looks like Urea to me. I would imagine even without eating the kidneys would still be processing and eventually have to get rid of it. But I've never claimed to be an expert.

I'd tend to agree, My guys do this when they don't eat, what substrate are you using?

It looks like hardened/dried urine/urea with dried urate on the end.
My guess is like the others, kidneys still function, so its just a waste by product. Do they have access to fresh water while brumating? If not, make sure they do just in case.

exactly Saille - even though fresh water may be available - this still may occur, depends on your bluey. but it's nothing to worry about.

let them brumate over winter. Just elave them alone and don't feed them, just give them water.

You'll need them to be in fairly cool temps. What sort of blueys do you have? You are in FL so i take it you have relatively moderate winters?

Maybe it'd be better to keep them out in a garage over winter?

When Spring comes along, start giving them heat.

There's a brumation 101 thread written my the lovely LISA at the top of the thread listing. Read that and it should explain what to do, when they wake up introduce the female to the male and watch them. When they are done, you'll know it.

The caresheet also has a "guide" and pics.

Luke

PS - How old are they? They need to be sexually mature.

Hi, just curious- im hoping to breed Easterns some time in the future, so my question is: Living in Queensland it is too warm over winter for them to brumate no matter what i do...so what would i have to do?

Rachel, if they live naturally in your area, they must be able to brumate, and mate, or there would be none there, I'd go the garage root, wait until one of your fellow Aussie pipes up, but I think I'm right.
