My skink is about 21 inch long and she's 4years old.I get her from her owner who lived in Hong Kong(Becoz his wife hate reptiles).

I fed her with wet dog food, which is Chicken favour, she loves them very much, but if i fed her with vegetables(even mixed with dog foods),she wont even taste them.

I asked its ex-owner but he said he never fed his skink with greens be4.

But I heard someone said BTS's food should contains 70%of greens & 30% of meat ,but mine skink only like meat, who can i do?

Thx for help. :(

Hi :btsnet: on this site there are a number of differing opinions on diet, greens are offered because they contain a large amount of calcium in a natural form, lots of BTS are very picky and wont or are hard to get to eat greens/veg's, I like to feed roaches and prodominantly snails garden and aquatic this helps my picky eater get the calcium from the shell, lots offer mice for this reason(bones/organs),also there's protein from the meat part, have you looked through the caresheet and food chart? there is a lot of information in this section that can help with all manner of BTS related questions, send us some photo's( its the law) of the new family member, stay for a while, you might like it !!!!

Thx Leigh, actually every time when i fed her i will mixed her food with some Calcium powder(for reptile use),but the only problem is i still
hvnt got the vitamin powder yet,so i'm afraid that if she hate eationg vegetables she cant recieve the vitamins from greens. I'll show u my new member's photos, just wait a minutes. :ohyes:

Those are stunning photo's, looks healthy enough to me. If you can get a diet that offers 2:1 calcium ratio, and it gets eaten, you'll not have to add the calci dust, have you tried grinding up egg shells into dust/powder, loads of owners do this instead of buying it.I find that the only way to be sure he eats his greens is to hide them,I've put them in snail shells, hid them in banana/chicken and poured raw mixed egg on them, or starve him for a good few days can work also.
Your problem is that he isnt used to them being offered as a food source, maybe introduce a little at a time, to sneakily add them(try putting the whole meal in a blender ) the bits are too hard to seperate from the dog food.

Thx for ur help,

Actually ive already tried to putting the whole meal in a blender, but it didnt work, once i put the meal on her front, she tasted tem with her tongue, then looks like she was considering something and walk away soon.....after that,i tried to fed her with meat only, then she ate them all.......what a picky eater....

alright, let me try to use your solutions, haha,i wont feed her in the coming 3 days, let see will she eat the vegetables or not.

For an adult that isnt really starving, try it,if no result wait a week, they can go months without food (if your worried a week will harm her) also I've posted a link in a thread "A good place to look for meal ideas"

Have you tried any fruits at all? Mine loves mango and kiwi, and I sometimes sprinkle calcium on those.
He also loves hard boiled eggs.

They can go much more than a month without food. When brumating they can go months at a time. I know this because one of mine hasn't eaten more than 20 worms since I got him in Sept. He's been sleeping the whole time -.-' Lazy lizard.

Well it's more like 70% meat 30% vegies. (welcome to the site btw!)

Try blending up green beans, rasberries, blackberries, corn, carrot and dog food. that should work. Otherwise, as leigh said - don't feed it for a week or 2 then try, I'm sure your bluey will come around.

Funny how when they know food is always there they get picky otherwise they eat what they can.

Unfortunately...my bluey can have an insight into my plan... 8)
